Our Clip Chart

Have you heard your child mention clipping to the top of the chart or even the principal? If so, you're hearing good things! In our classroom, your child and I use a colorful clip chart to promote and manage his or her behavior every day. Since this chart is new to many parents, I have attached a picture of the chart below. I've also explained what happens once a child reaches red and clips up again.

Every day your child begins the day on color green: Ready to Learn. When students listen, follow directions, show respect, etc. they move their clip up to the next color. This pattern continues until a child reaches red. Once they reach red and are told to clip up again, they then clip to the top of the chart. This means students are having a great day! From this point, students can still clip up. They then clip up to myself and can later clip to our principal, Mr. Long. This is a great honor for students!

Students have the opportunity to clip to Mr. Long everyday. When students have clipped to him 15 times, their clip is placed on the Hall of Fame and a new decorated clip is awarded. This pattern continues throughout the school year, promoting positive behavior in first grade!

It's extremely important you review and sign your child’s behavior log each night. I believe every child can be successful and clip to the top of the chart or above each day. Please let me know if you have any questions about our classroom behavior chart.
